The Autumn issue of the YouthBuild Bulletin is devoted to the work over the last three years of the National Mentoring Alliance. This national newsletter goes to all of the local agencies, the YouthBuild Board and other representative groups, and to the many partners, sponsors, and allies YBUSA has around the nation. We are thrilled that the latest issue focuses on the good work of our mentoring programs and the value that mentoring brings to the YouthBuild model.

From the introduction by CEO Dorothy Stoneman and Board Chairman Roy Priest:

YouthBuild USA’s National Mentoring Alliance recently celebrated achievement of 3,500 mentoring matches between YouthBuild students and volunteer mentors... Mentoring of YouthBuild students by caring adult staff has always been a critical element of YouthBuild’s success. However, it is difficult for staff to provide adequate support when students graduate; they must turn their attention to the incoming class of students. Yet this moment of transition is exactly when mentoring is needed most. We are seeing a positive impact of these mentoring relationships on students and graduates. As a result, we aim to embed quality mentoring in all YouthBuild programs, expand resources focused on mentoring for all youth, and support mentoring research.
